"What is minimalism?" is the question I often asked myself and got asked by others from time to time.
I usually answer them with a short, simple explanation.
Minimalism is about the way of letting go
The world is complicated, we encounter many different things everyday and it is not easy to figure out what we really want and looking for in our lives. Adopting minimalist lifestyle is one of the ways to figure this out.
Minimalists find happiness in relationships and experiences
Compulsory consumption has become a global problem in the past decade because of globalisation, cheaper labour and easier transportation. We first think it is good for all of us because everyone can get different kind of goods cheaply, and in return we would then purchase goods more often. Modern and popular culture has framed us with a mindset that good life is found in accumulating things—in getting as much as possible, but is this really true?
The value of modern culture
However, this is not correct at all. I am sure that if you now look around your house, it is not hard to find anything that are not useful at all, or simply you do not need it. and they have been sitting around at your house for years. Embracing minimalism brings freedom from the all-consuming passion to possess. It encourages us to look into a boarder horizon and to seek happiness elsewhere in relationships, experiences, and human connection.
This is also the reason why we built Moonshaft, we make our products that go against the tides and can be lasted for ages. Moonshaft is a brand about slow living lifestyle, and embracing the mentality of minimalism. We want our customers to know what are essential to them, and start embracing a minimalism lifestyle.
